"Ramin Amin Tafreshi's graduation project Saoshyant is a short opera for three singers, a vocal ensemble, a chamber ensemble and electronica. Tafreshi adapted the myth of Zahhak, a famous Persian narration from the Shahnameh . In order to survive himself, King Zahhak must ensure that the two black snakes that grow on his shoulders are fed the brains of two men every night. Saoshyant means as much as the saviour, the one who will make good triumph over evil. Even a saviour cannot escape making complex choices.
This thesis is one of eleven graduation projects that have been nominated for the AHK Graduation Prize 2021, the graduation prize of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK)."
