On the 12th of September 2024, the award ceremony of the Young Artsupport Amsterdam (YAA Awards) was held. I was honored to receive the Young Artsupport Amsterdam Award along with five talented emerging artists. The award ceremony took place at the Framer Framed, where we had the opportunity to present our works to an exceptional community of art enthusiasts and artists. During the presentation, I discussed the urgency and the reasons for writing music, from my own perspective as an artist, and talked about the power of music in transferring the hidden messages beneath the notes. In addition, I presented my work Soorbâng written for Toonzetters Ensemble.
But you might ask, Why do you write Music? And I would say Music is such a powerful medium that despite its abstract nature, can directly trigger our emotions down deep in our system [...] It moves you emotionally while sharing the messages beneath the notes directly with your heart. And that's why I write music. (from my presentation notes at the YAA Awards Ceremony)
What made the event even more special for me was the heartfelt support from the audience and receiving the audience award recognition in the form of a golden crown. 👑
YAA has made interviews with the artists featured in this year's edition. You can read mine here. For this year's magazine, Rossel, who also won the award in the field of visual arts, created the fascinating artwork below. In this work, he brought two quotes from each artist's interview. This stunning piece was showcased on the cover of YAA Award Magazine and also is printed on T-shirts for those who wish to show their support for the organization and cherish this gorgeous creation. pst.
