Debussy, Claude: Clair De Lune (Duo Avenoir) arr. Ramin Amin Tafreshi

CLAIR DE LUNE (FROM SUITE BERGAMASQUE) Claude Debussy Composed by Claude Debussy in 1890 and reworked and released in 1905, the third movement of Suite bergamasque is a four-movement piano piece. In contrast to the lively second and fourth movements of the suite, the delicate "Clair de Lune" creates a sophisticated contrast. It is one of the first pieces by Debussy and the most instantly identifiable part of his body of work. There are three sections to the building. In the beginning, there is a softly whispered melody that develops into rich, serene harmonies and rhapsodic triplets. In the middle, there is a new melody with that distinctive yearning triad notes over rippling accompaniment. The music builds to a gentle climax and then gently fades into the return of the first theme, which is high in the treble register. A brief coda recalls the middle part, and the work concludes with the same upward-gazing contemplation that it started with. The meditative and contemplative mood is heightened by the melody of Clair de Lune. The melody takes the listener on a journey through their own emotions; the original title, "Promenade Sentimentale" (meaning "sentimental walk"), further emphasizes this point. In contrast, the title doesn't dictate an emotional reaction from the composer but rather invites the listeners to think on their own lives and come to their own conclusions. Ramin Amin Tafreshi's subsequent arrangement endeavors to identify the delicate spotlight that exists between Debussy's expressiveness's rich harmonical texture and his straightforward - yet potent leading voice. With its warm timbre and pensive tone, cor anglais evokes nostalgic and contemplative feeling of the past through Debussy's Clair De Lune; inviting one to move upstream one's memory and reminiscence past moments - and move forward once again. Hence "avenoir". “Your soul is a choice landscape, in which there roam charming maskers and bergamaskers, playing the lute and dancing, as if sad beneath their fantastical disguises.” - Paul Verlaine in ‘Clair De Lune’ -------------- Performing: Duo Avenoir - Matej Lacković (classical guitar) - Peter Lacković (english horn) Arrangement: Ramin Amin Tafreshi Video Recording: Grycko Films Production Audio Recording: TRPTK Location: Het Concertgebouw ---------------- Instruments: - guitar (Manuel Adallid, model 65 Años; double top and Green ebony back and sides, 2022) - english horn (Gebrüder Mönnig, model 180) ----------------- Follow us on social platforms: https://www.instagram.com/duoavenoir/ https://www.facebook.com/duoavenoir/ Click here to visit our website: https://www.duoavenoir.com/
